Very clever work. I confess that I had never heard of partisan activity in Belgium or the Netherlands. Resistance of course and reprisals by German units for what they thought was Franc Tireur activity. But, in practice the densely built up terrain and lack of suitably remote refuges must have made it very difficult. Ardennes maybe and Jedburgh teams of course, very late in the war, but again I had never heard of a local version of the Maquis. |
