Britain's major contribution to the Napoleonic War effort during the period 1808 to 1814 was, almost exclusively, in the Iberian Peninsula in what has been called (by the British) the Peninsular War. It was a long war and a truly joint and multinational effort; many of Wellington's Army commanders and men, who subsequently fought at Waterloo, learned their trade or cut their teeth during these enduring campaigns.
