I have salvaged (and frantically painted some extras) enough of my old Samurai army that I can bring the Warlords of Mindoro into play link

If these are company sized units, I think the stamina is a tad high. Maybe a three? A 4 stamina is like a full size squadron. Combined with large makes them as tough as the tercios.

Just my two cents.

mad monkey 1,
What I was aiming for was the fanatic "die to the last man" sort of thing. Do you think dropping the Stamina and boosting the Discipline would be a better answer?

In campaign terms a Mindoran unit that is driven from the battlefield is pretty much wrecked because almost all of it's people are dead. Other nations units can be rallied after a battle and start the next movement phase carrying Wear markers.

I am new to these rules and am open to your ideas and insights.

Well it looks like the melee companies can get to a 4 stamina and large under the mob trait. My bad. Still, make the missile companies a three stamina, make the samurai companies a 4 stamina and the ashigaru companies 3/4 stamina and large. Do a practice fight with them before you toss them into the campaign. That will give you the feel you're looking for.
As for the Mindoro forces getting wrecked, That was a certain clan getting whomped. I'm sure there are more clans back east looking for land. The cult of Sushi must be spread amongst the masses for their enlightenment and culinary enjoyment.

@mad monkey 1

I have been re-thinking my ideas, and I think that I'm going to give some playtesting to the higher Discipline/lower Stamina pathway. It doesn't seem right to have a few swordsmen stand off a Tercio Viejo.

Playtesting using the original stats had shown them to be very tough nuts to crack, maybe swapping the stats will give me more of what I'm looking for.
