I'm sure this has been discussed before but I came up nil on a search.

I'm wondering for those of you who have experience with both games which do you currently prefer and why.

So far I've only played a couple games of Kill Team with Scout Marines, Tau & Chaos.

I'm interested in getting started in Necro for the first time largely due to the small cost to get started with the basic game.

I'm attracted to the Forgeworld upgrade sets and the relatively low costs to add new gangs ($35ish on Amazon). I also like the possibility of adding Chaos and Genestealer cults to the game for a narrative campaign.

Thank you for any input & thoughts, in particular with Necro as I have no experience with it beyond youtube videos.

I like the feel of Necromunda better than Kill Team.

I second chuck05 choice.

Kill Team is an "on a budget" smaller scale version of 40k.

Necromunda is a similar game, set in a small part of the 40k universe.

Kill Team models have a much greater crossover potential to 40K armies.

I recall a post that claimed Necromunda was more detailed. RPG-like, with characters, book keeping, resource management, off-table strategy and the like.

Kill Team was skirmish 40K. A bit of narrative perhaps but really just small scale combat with none of the added details.

The two also feature differt "armies".

Although there are fan rules, necrons and orcs and typical Tyranids are out of place in necromunda.

Like wise necro gangs in 40k, although you could easily use most in imperial guard (or whatever they are calling them today) armies as guardsmen in casual attire.

Support is something to be considered. Either game could be dropped at some point. If GW pull an AOS on 40k, for example, or if sales decline, or a new game is made. I could see a new game that takes over from both, plus GorkaMorka, inquisitor. A catchball 40k rpg skirmish. Simplify several ranges into one, while refreshing old ip. I don't think GM or I were big enough for a new independent release, but they do have their fans.
