"In previous articles for ClearanceJobs, I've thrown rocks at the Army's catastrophically ill-considered Army Combat Fitness Test—the planned successor to the proven and successful Army Physical Fitness Test. I will admit, however, that my arguments against it emerged strictly from experience and logic. I am a fan of the original APFT because I watched soldiers in my platoon take the challenge to raise their scores, and watched pounds melt away and recruiting poster paratroopers emerge. As for logic, the APFT essentially costs a unit ten bucks and two hours to run through an entire company of soldiers, whereas the ACFT costs… more. Tens of millions of dollars more…" Main page link Amicalement Armand |

Just make the test easier. The enemy will accommodate them in the event of war. |

I tried out the ACFT test. I'm almost 50 ys old. I passed. Granted I like to work out and do so regularly about 4 times a week but if it should not be that difficult if you are 30 ys younger. I did this without any prior "specialized" training. I just printed out the test and tried it on a outdoor gym. Finally, there is nothing wrong with improvising with paintcans instead of kettlebells, it is not undignified to improvise. Fixing a sled is not that difficult. Ball for throwing you can use a sandbag. Not perfect but acceptable for training. For women I have not checked the scores and pass/fail but I guess it can be very tough for women. But the regulations about passing the test 6 months after giving birth is a joke. I would say give them at least 12 months preferably 18. Giving birth really puts a strain on the body, especially the lower parts and the leg tuck is very hard on the body after a birth. |

Yeah, that's a bit stupid. |

Well, we can't always wait 18+ months for a soldier to become "combat ready" when it hits the fan, so….. |
