Hi all, I have a spare box of Zvezda 1/72 Russian Lifeguard cossacks, is there another unit, Russian or French Allied, that they could be painted as? Approximately-ish is good enough. |

The Prussian Garde Cossack Sqn. wore a similar uniform in blue. |

Thanks cam, I haven't got around to the Prussian yet. Anyone know of Russian opolchenie, irregular or cossack units that looked similar to the Guard Cossacks? |

Start cutting off stuff and use them as regular Cossacks. There is some free reign permitted. |

After a bit of googling, I recon that they could become Platov's regiment of 1812. Maybe with a bit of knife work. What do you reckon? |

I file to my hearts content on metal, but any sharp Exacto blade on plastic should work. I dumped lots of my Cossack web sites since finished my Cossacks but look at the Bug Cossacks or Ataman's. |

Really not that difficult. Or perhaps it is, as the most 'overdressed' cossacks; yes cut off plumes or reshape, use dull colours not 'regulation' blue etc. and horse furniture same. They will soon be a non-descript unit. And irregular posing if you can (horses and riders). d |

I painted some as St. Petersburg Opolchenie Cossacks. |
