My Arnhem model is now finished!
It will be at the Fiasco wargames show in Leeds at the Royal Armouries on the 27th October 2019.

We'll be by Sally 4th, Colonel Bills and the Bradford Battletech Battalion.
We will be running a quick participation game using 6mm figures simulating Graebner's charge across the bridge. You can see Richard Attenborough's version here,

Come over, say hello and give the game a go!

That's really nice.

It's especially nice for me, because it confirms something I was about to experiment with myself: mixing 6mm miniatures with 2mm terrain. I thought that would look okay, and you've demonstrated it conclusively.

I also just learned from you how to make the areas on my terrain that I'm going to define as "urban", underneath the buildings. Textured gray works better than I thought it would.

PS: I love the steps in the walkways up the hill to the bridge. Are those cast pieces from somewhere, or did you scratchbuild them? Or… something else?

Just wow! I was at Arnhem last week, the area round the bridge has changed totally, but this is brilliant.

Excellent !!!!

Damn! Great work. It certainly reflects a lot of time and effort.

We've been using groups of 10-12mm buildings mounted on 6inch x 6inch bases for our 20mm WWII urban blocks and there are numerous advantages to the smaller-scale urban block concept.

I'm impressed.

Yellow Admiral the smaller buildings at a much closer to ground scale than figure scale really work well if you are not gaming at 1-2-1 scale.
The roads are 180 grade sandpaper with a very light grey paint followed by a black ink wash, tip courtesy of Mel the Terrain Tutor. Other sections are a light brown with desert yellow dry brush and skeleton bone dry brush layer on sometimes with a soft tone ink wash.
The steps up to the bridge are scratch built. It's plastic are with cotton thread wrapped around it painted desert yellow, ink washed and bone highlights. Steve Arnold uses cable ties which would be much easier if you can get them at the right width and scale. I put some more detailed photos on my blog a while back

Thanks again for the comments and really big thanks to Leeds wargaming club for putting on the show.

The game and model were really well received and I was pretty busy most of the day. I ran the game 9 times for 13 people, 5 of whom were kids. I also got to play with a chap whose Dad was at Oosterbeck!

Here's some pics and as always there's more at the blog allhellletloose.co.uk
