Which miniature wargaming period or genre do you consider to be the most difficult to get involved with? |

All of the following is about me and only me. No judgement on anyone's war gaming. Hardest for me to get into? Painting? Napoleonic. Cost? Anything Games Workshop. Rules? Ancient. Flavor? Any non-Roman ancients. |

For me it would be ironclads. I canīt find a scale that pleases me and my finances. |

I love Napoleonics but it is a bottomless pit. Once you start, there is no end, it drags you from one beautiful nationality to another. However, it is a lot of fun! |

Seven Years War. Just can't get my motivation up for it. |

Napoleonics are easy. Info is easily available, much of it free. There is literally 1 thousand producers per scale. Now Medievals are hard. Not only is the feudal society far more complex and unintuitive, but sources are fra less numerous and good, and tying to find anything that can be very liberally called an OOB is next to impossible. Then you got the heradlry, which outside of battles like agincourt seems close to impossible to track down except for a very few famous knights. Oh and painting shields/and or using transfers is the baine of my existence. |

Ancients. I've assembled figures in 5mm for much of the Classical world, but nomenclature, colors and army composition is driving me slowly nuts. Painting them is next year's project, and it looks to be a long year. |

Crimean War. I like that period and that conflict. I'm afraid of doing it "wrong". |

Napoleonic, and you don't need to go from nation to nation if that army is big enough |

Most difficult to get into? With the exception of the ACW, I'd say I'd say post Waterloo, Pre-WWII. I just can't wrap my mind around the era. |

Modern Air War, beautiful sexy jets but as soon as you look at all the extra rules to cope with sensors and missiles all the whoosh zoom turns in to an accountancy nightmare. Robert |

For me, it was Napoleonics by a mile. I couldn't get get a foothold until Shako came out, and gave me a fixed set of army lists to paint to. |

Depends what you mean by hard. As far as getting enough together to put on a decent game skirmish gaming in general (especially WWII) has potentially a lot of work to do up front although all of the buildings I have collected make a nice looking table but aren't actually that good to play with. For me there isn't a period I want to do but am not sure I want to start on as I have been collecting for years but horse and musket in 28s was pretty daunting until I bit the bullet and decided I just needed to learn how to build it. I would agree for any horse and musket for larger battles as there is a big build time which is why I only do Napoleonics at any reasonable size. |

I feel like Napoleonic's is probably one of th easiest periods to get into given the variety of manufacturers, rules, and sources available. Napoleonic's are like a timeshare though and once you're in there's no getting out. |

Italian Wars, since the mass formations, and very colorful units can be rather daunting to even consider to start painting. Modern Air War is easy – just buy the AirWar: C21 rules from Wargame Vault, or other PDF sellers, and you are done. Simple, but very good for quick, fun games. Get the AirWar Max version. There's a free trial version for you to check out, before you buy, on offer too. |

Gotta go with Gunfreak, I've done micro-armor, Napoleonics, SYW, ACW, ECW, and ancients. Tons of available figures. I did finally find some decent medieval figures but filling a fairly accurate OOB was hardest. |
