As I am getting ready to take a plunge into Vietnam gaming, I am curious what rulesets you are using for 20/28 mm scale gaming? Why do you like the particular rules? Are there any new rulesets on the horizon of which you are aware?

Thanks in advance.

A modified form of Politic's by Another Mean's by Chris Engel. It makes players have to think. Basic game is rather simple. I do limit the number of "Points to Argue" which speeds up the game. I sometimes will also create some pre "argued" points that the players can spend resources on or save the resources for use during the game as events transpire. An example would be, for 2 points all soldiers equipped with flak vests and save hits on a 1 or 2.

You might consider "Vietnam" by RFCM ( Peter Pig)
Here is a page of information about the rules.

Search and Destroy.
ARVN, NVA included
Fire-bases too.

Very popular. Ran 9 games of this at Historicon 2017.

I'm planning on using a combination of FNG from Two Hour Wargames and Fistful of Lead.

I use Advanced Squad Leader (ASL) converted to miniatures, which were the rules original intent.

Works quite well.

RAFM's Charlie Company for campaigns.

For quick one off games Osprey's Force on Force (apparently remake of Ambush Alley).

Spectre Operations and Charlie Company, maybe try out Skirmish Sangin also.

RPG/ Skirmish gaming using heavily modified "Necromunda". Our group came into this sideways-- we liked the "Necromunda" system and expanded it for Vietnam, rather than looked for specific rules because we wanted to play Vietnam.

Fistful of Lead with some flavor modifications, if need be.

The Long Road South which is an Iron Ivan game. The rules go with their Disposable Heroes ruleset. It has a very "Vietnam War" feel to the rules.

Ambush Valley.

Working well at the platoon level. In the club tonight 2 platoons of US Army are going to push across the rice fields trying to enter Hue.

Tom,
How are you modifying FNG 2nd Tour?

Sort of homebrewed. What we sometimes call 'ALBLIBA' -- short for 'A Little Bit Like Bolt Action'.
