"China aims to thwart the U.S. military from using strategically significant ports around the world, U.S. officials and analysts said yesterday. China hopes to do this by investing aggressively in overseas infrastructure projects, the experts said.

"Their single aspiration is to elevate their own status and capacity on a global scale," said Chad Sbragia, the deputy assistant secretary of defense for China, during a Thursday House Transportation subcommittee hearing. "What it does mean is that they will have the global military where the U.S. essentially may have no safe harbors."…"

This is already happening. Look at what's happened in just the last 3 months that I'm aware of:

An Esports Player was suspended and severely punished for speaking out in support of the Hong Kong protests. Blizzard apparently did not want to lose revenue by allowing the player's speech to be uncensored since Blizzard has a heavy amount of monetary support coming from China's player base.

The NBA controversy. At least the NBA is taking a strong stance in support of free speech. However, there is way too much money going to China. It has given them a definite advantage in power and influence. I'm looking to the time that they will be the world's only Superpower, if we don't start seeking changes in this, LIKE YESTERDAY! Gretta what's her name needs to be more worried about this than the environment.

And then there's this little gem that a friend of mine from middle school and high school posted on Facebook today. He knows a thing or two about overpowering regimes, having been a child when his family fled Vietnam in the 1970s and becoming a naturalized citizen of the USA just before his sister and I graduated in the same senior class in 1990.

That one happened in July 2019. While looking for the article just now, I found this from January 2018:

We are funding our own demise and their ability to take over the entire world without a single shot even being fired. Lord God in Heaven are we f-ing stupid.

My grandfather had said that we should be worry about the Russians so much, they're too much like us… The Chinese are the ones to watch out for.

The Chinese Corrupt Party has been having it it's way for far too long. Americans, Canadians and Europeans (any and all freedom loving people) need to ignore all of their ridiculous demands and continue to exercise our right to free speech – no matter what they say…

Mercantilism was practiced by Britain then America. Now China has the temerity to think it can too. The nerve!

Yeah, and Mercantilism dang near destroyed the entire WORLD economy in the 1929 crash.

It's not that China is getting uppity about joining the other major world powers. It's that China is choosing an economic model that is KNOWN to cause problems!

Hard ball capitalism complete with slave labor. It's what happens when the state becomes a big evil corporation.
