Today's poll about the age of figures still in use got me to thinking about old rules as well. I have a couple sets of older published rules in use from the early to mid 1980s, but most of gaming is dominated by various home-brew or self written rules that I or a friend created. So I am curious, how old are the oldest home-brew rules that you still use? Mine would be my WWII and Cold War rules that date to 1983, so 36 years in my case. |

If they improve the game and more importantly are "accurate" in what you are trying to "simulate" they are generally here to stay ! And added to the existing rule set. So I'm talking my rules go back to '90 in some cases … |

My Civil War rules date from the late 1960's. Still using them and have not found a good replacement. It's sometimes years between games. In the most recent game a situation came up and I thought it would be great to include new rules for. I when to the right section of my rules and that situation was already covered in a past edition. |

The gaming group still uses the napoleonic era rules created in 1977. Some still use the older Version 1.0, strongly % system driven, while others have translated to the modernized and streamlined Version 2.0 of the the rules…. quicker systems and game mechanics using d10 format. Otherwise the two versions are alike. So… say 39 years still in play. |

We have been using home brew rules for ACW and AWI (2 years), and we enjoy them as they are tailored for our play style. As an aside I am VERY interested in trading my home brew rules with other like minded gents. Would love to see what others like and if there is anything we can steal! PM me and we can trade sets. |

I've been playing my version of On To Richmond for nearly 30 years, including my regimental version. The regimental version has grown increasingly lengthy and complicated over the years and lately I've been thinking about how to trim it and simplify it. |
