Over the last several years I have had to cut down my painting time due to back issues. About six months ago, however, I was introduced to a product known as the "Egg Sitter Gel Support Cushion" that has worked wonders for me. I am now able to paint miniatures for extended periods of time with very little problem. I cannot guarantee that it will work for you, but if you have back issues, it is certainly worth giving one a try. That said, here is a link to the product. Although this link is to Walmart, I purchased mine at Bed Bath and Beyond and I have seen the product for sale at other locations as well: link I hope this helps some of you who suffer from back issues, Kevin |

I've also had luck in the past with electronic pulse massage units for the back. |

I take it having back issues of MWAN and Historical Gamer doesn't count? (Unless I try to pick them up.) |

I have similar problems. I've been looking at the Purple seat cushions. link |

What helps me is one of those light transportable curved back supporters with a big elastic band that one can hook over the back of any chair. When you sit back against the chair it has a curve that fits nicely into the lower back and gives good support. I just carry this along to the Club and stick it on whatever chair I will be sitting at. To firm it, I have a cushion permanently inside it. Definitely helps me. Also good to get up and move around the table every half hour or so. |

I should also mention that every other day I do a number of back exercises that my doctor recommended. I have found that as long as I continue to perform these exercises and use the egg sitter seat cushion, I have very little back issues. However, if I fail to perform my exercises or use the set cushion, my back begins to flair up again. And like Durban Gamer mentions, it is also a good idea to get up every half hour or so. |
