I see that, while C-in-C is unwilling to respond to TMP by any means, they are making public statements about us:

We never contracted with The Miniature Page for any adds.

So we're supposed to believe that for 14 years, C-in-C was unaware they had banner ads on TMP? If they were not advertising on TMP, why were they paying for banner ads up until 2016?

I allowed them to link with us when our page was grossing big numbers.

I don't even know what this means. They think their website was grossing higher numbers than TMP???

To help them I sold them product at half price so they could reward fellows writing articles.

C-in-C paid for THEIR ADVERTISING in product, according to the arrangement made in advance when they signed up as advertisers. It had nothing to do with rewarding people for writing articles.

The continuing dispute between TMP and C-in-C is that C-in-C stopped paying for their advertising in 2016, did not cancel their advertising (we stopped it for non-payment), their contact person seems to have vanished, and they refuse to respond directly to us despite many, many attempts that I and Editor Gwen have made to contact them.

Bigby Wolf15 Oct 2019 12:55 p.m. PST

I didn't even know they were still around?

SBminisguy15 Oct 2019 12:59 p.m. PST

Thought they were under new ownership??

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian15 Oct 2019 1:03 p.m. PST

The new fellow told me he is not an owner, just handling sales.

Then I told him about the debt, and he stopped talking to me.

Not reputable businessmen.

dwight shrute15 Oct 2019 1:35 p.m. PST

maybe they just don't like you ?

Bigby Wolf15 Oct 2019 1:45 p.m. PST

Where are these public statements being made (1st post) if the company no longer exists?

martin goddard Sponsoring Member of TMP15 Oct 2019 1:52 p.m. PST

Death throes?

BorisTheSpider15 Oct 2019 2:05 p.m. PST

Why air dirty laundry? Not very professional.

Bigby Wolf15 Oct 2019 2:54 p.m. PST

Agree with Boris. It's not a good look.

HMS Exeter15 Oct 2019 3:17 p.m. PST

Ditto Bigby.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian15 Oct 2019 4:13 p.m. PST

Why air dirty laundry? Not very professional.

It's the only way to respond to the charges made by C-in-C in the email they sent out to their followers.

Lies cannot be allowed to stand.

Don't blame the victim.

skipper John15 Oct 2019 5:33 p.m. PST

I'm with Bill. I knew C-in-C were bums back in 1978.

Personal logo Flashman14 Supporting Member of TMP15 Oct 2019 5:41 p.m. PST

What is C-in-C?

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian15 Oct 2019 6:13 p.m. PST

C-in-C produces microarmor, modern and WWII; 1/2400 modern naval miniatures.

Personal logo Flashman14 Supporting Member of TMP15 Oct 2019 6:26 p.m. PST

Ah, not my genre.

von Schwartz15 Oct 2019 6:38 p.m. PST

C in C is an old micro-armor manufacturer based in the Twin Cities (Minnesota for all you foreigners out there). I actually started my gaming with them, I was friends with a couple of the sales/PR guys back in the 80s. They were a nice group of fellows back then but I lost touch in the 90s when I started doing 15mm Napoleonics.

21eRegt15 Oct 2019 8:28 p.m. PST

I'm on their mailing list and have seen absolutely nothing regarding TMP, but get regular updates on the move to Canada and product availability.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian15 Oct 2019 8:53 p.m. PST

It was the email they sent out today to their mailing list, titled "new shop."

Uparmored15 Oct 2019 11:41 p.m. PST

I love CinC and I love TMP. I don't know what to think

Jcfrog16 Oct 2019 12:07 a.m. PST

There is no reason for fmpbill to do that if not true.

Redcurrant16 Oct 2019 4:35 a.m. PST

Who (or what) is C in C ?

Devil Dice16 Oct 2019 5:05 a.m. PST

I have great memories of C-in-C tanks. They were the best Micro armour back when I started wargaming. The only alternatives at the time were Heroic and Ros and Irregular!
Mind you they were prohibitively expensive by comparison
*edit* I'd forgotten GHQ which were really nice as well!

HMS Exeter16 Oct 2019 7:24 a.m. PST

#Redcurrant

CinC (Pfc-cinc)is a long standing maker of a variety of soft metal gaming models. 1/285 armor and AC, 1/2400 WWI and WWII, 1/4800 ships, N and HO scale Model Railroad items, and some scifi items. A solid and reliable maker, with good turnaround times. As a company CinC had sort of plateau'ed, as they had not intro'd any new items in more than a few years.

Last year CinC opted to regroup with most of their lines being marketed thru Legions IV Hire out of Canada. LIVH is still working up. I don't know who is actually making what, but LIVH is apparently going to be the goto for most of the military models.

I saw no email, tho I doubt I'm enuf of a customer to be on CinC's info distribution list. I have no direct info on the particulars of this dust up.

whill416 Oct 2019 7:36 a.m. PST

I did not see an email from C&C either. Also, I haven't seen evidence that C&C had contracted or made any payments to TMP either.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP16 Oct 2019 7:53 a.m. PST

Yes I got this too :

Should be getting new items out for 1/4800, N scale and the Sci-fi lines.
Feeling much better after 6 years recovering from the car crash.
Keep checking here and with link to Legions IV Hire for the rest of or lines.
We never contracted with The Miniature Page for any adds. I allowed them
to link with us when our page was grossing big numbers. To help them I sold them product at half price so they could reward fellows writing articles.

Bottom line … I want the remaining SEM models released. I don't care if I have to get them from Klingons. "Just get'er done ! " I'm not a young man … old fart I'm hoping to get them while I still can see and hold a brush !

Personal logo McKinstry Supporting Member of TMP Fezian16 Oct 2019 9:26 a.m. PST

Their 1/4800 ships are gorgeous and if they were to expand that range, I'd buy them by the truckload.

Timmo uk16 Oct 2019 10:34 a.m. PST

+1 McKinstry.

I bought the entire range early this year when I feared they might go OOP. They had been on my bucket list for a long time.

Texas Jack16 Oct 2019 10:56 a.m. PST

Whether they contracted for advertising or not, they´re certainly getting a lot of it here. evil grin

Devil Dice16 Oct 2019 11:23 a.m. PST

Well as Legion pointed out, if they make nice models, people will want to buy them regardless of any dispute with TMP.
It could become part of a poll
"Would you buy from a company if they had what you wanted regardless of any dispute over advertising with a magazine/website?"

BrianW16 Oct 2019 11:49 a.m. PST

I knew nothing of this situation until I read about it here.

von Schwartz16 Oct 2019 6:50 p.m. PST

Since Devil Dice brought it up, is GHQ still in business? I used to use both GHQ and C-in-C, both excellent but preferred GHQ as they would add packs, chains, and other gear on the castings, make them look like they had been in action. C-in-C were beautiful castings but they looked like they just rolled off the assembly floor. Just a truly personal preference. The rivalry there was palatable, they were both based in the Twin Cities and were competing for the same market. GHQ got a government contract for Mini-Tanks and C-in-C diversified into other industrial markets.

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian16 Oct 2019 7:32 p.m. PST

Also, I haven't seen evidence that C&C had contracted or made any payments to TMP either.

That sort of evidence is usually kept private. LOL

Although seeing their banner ads on here for more than a decade, as well as their Hobby News stories, might have been a clue…

is GHQ still in business?

Yes, and an advertiser on TMP. grin

HMS Exeter17 Oct 2019 5:37 a.m. PST

Is GHQ still in business?

Do the Yankees still play baseball?

irishserb17 Oct 2019 7:02 a.m. PST

Odd e-mail. Did that come from C in C or Legions IV Hire?

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian17 Oct 2019 12:54 p.m. PST

It came from C-in-C.

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP22 Oct 2019 3:09 a.m. PST

evil grin

Tumbleweed Supporting Member of TMP22 Oct 2019 6:30 a.m. PST

I have to side with Bill on this one. You can't place ads on a website for three years without payment, then deny that you ever did.

Devil Dice23 Oct 2019 3:07 a.m. PST

On the plus side, they did let him have half price models, so maybe it's time to let it go and move on

Personal logo Legion 4 Supporting Member of TMP23 Oct 2019 8:14 a.m. PST

"No such thing as a free lunch!" … evil grin

Zephyr123 Oct 2019 2:12 p.m. PST

I still like that "Deadbeat" banner name-n-shame idea… ;-)

Personal logo Editor in Chief Bill The Editor of TMP Fezian24 Oct 2019 5:23 a.m. PST

On the plus side, they did let him have half price models, so maybe it's time to let it go and move on

As I said before, they never offered to let me buy models at half-price, and I never bought any models from them.

Easy for you to say 'move on', it's not your money. grin

Dadster Supporting Member of TMP24 Oct 2019 4:00 p.m. PST

It does indeed suck to be lied about….

Asteroid X31 Oct 2019 10:27 p.m. PST

It just seems like an odd thing to just come out and state.

What were they thinking?! Why even state that?
