I attended the Call to Arms wargaming convention in Williamsburg, VA, this past weekend and ran a quick Saturday afternoon game of Dragon Rampant using 54mm Lord of the Rings miniatures and some homemade scenery pieces. Hordes of orcs raiding a Rohirrim farmstead for livestock confront threes squadrons of the Horse Lords come to oppose them. One squadron ran down the hapless orc scouts who set fire to everything, but then the Rohirrim clashed with the warg rider reinforcements and the solid orc-horde infantry. The Rohirrim units were all at half strength and it looked like the orcs would take the day, but at the last minute the cavalry regrouped, charged forth, routed the warg rideres, and eliminated two hordes, including one with the orc leader, which decided the battle. The livestock all ran off to safety.

Custom-made Rohirrim farmhouse and sheep pen, with my obligatory flaming smoke columns (and some flickering electric votives inside the house for effect). I'll probably run the scenario again when I return in February for Williamsburg Muster.
