As in, what was the platoon leader armed with? Probably just a pistol, according to the KSTNs. link Though I wouldn't be surprised if a platoon leader 'acquired' a rifle to make himself look less important as a defense against snipers. The guy at the front of the formation seems to be an ammo carrier for one of the LMGs, so he has a rifle, looks like a basic Kar98K. |

Just to clarify. The chap in front is not necessarily "the leader". He is carrying an ammo box for the MG34. He has one on his back too. The gun has a smaller drum attached That is a very posh pontoon bridge to have a nice hand rail for the less mobile or able-bodied |
