Here on the shores of the Chesapeake Bay the fair days of Fall have finally replaced the hot and humid days of Summer. A not so young man's old fart fancy turns to…PRIMING! Time to lay in a supply of cleaned and primed lead/pewter to see me through Winter. What's in your queue to be cleaned, primed and painted over this coming winter? I've got about 40 Old Glory 25mm Boxers to be painted up as Black Flag troops for Tonkin. I also have 9 Knights and men-at-arms, 17 Deadites, and a siege mantlet from Leading Edge Games to reinforce my Army of Darkness game. I may open another box of Deadites to add to the queue but I haven't decided. I don't paint as fast as I once did so these should last me a while. I suppose if I get desperate I might begin work on the last figures in my unpainted lead pile: Elite Miniatures Napoleonic Prussians.
What are you hoping to clean and prime before the onset of winter?

Ragbones, then you better order some more before you start on them. Remember as long as you have unpainted figures, you can't die. grin

As for me, my immediate queue is:

currently painting a battalion (16 x 25mm MiniFigs) of leger from the Kingdom of Northern Italy (Napoleonic)

two battalions (32 x 25mm MiniFig) of Napoleonic Russian infantry

a whole bunch of 28mm French and Hessians for the Franco-German War (aka the Franco-Prussian War)

a brigade (48 figures) of 15mm Confederate infantry

And I think that will last me for a while.

I bought about 30 Dark Fable Egyptians that I'm painting just now. I plan to use them for tomb robbing and horror-ish games (I bought a couple mummies, some undead, and the Egyptian vampires).
Next month, there are about 30 Pulp figures to work on, though I doubt that I'll finish all of them.
In December, it will probably be back to Dark Ages figures--mainly odd things, a couple Vikings, some civilians, a warlord for my Scots, and maybe the dreaded Skraeling catapult will finally get modeled.
And, after all that, well, maybe more colonials. Or the Byzantines that I started, then kind of forgot.

Where I live, primering season is coming to a close, so I have boxes of stuff all ready to go.

My desk is covered in AIM 1/200 scale WWII fighters. In the last two months I completed 16x Dauntlesses, 6x Avengers, 4x Hellcats and 4x Corsairs, but I have another 6x Avengers, 4x Hellcats, 4x Corsairs, 12x A6M5 Zeroes, and a batch of 12x P-40Fs, all wearing initial paint colors.

What I should do is finish all the WWII early-war carrier bombers (12x Kates, 12x Vals and 12x Devastators) and extraneous bits (6x P-400s, 6x Rufes, some F1M Petes) sitting in boxes, so I can have the Solomons air campaign ready for play at a moment's notice, then move on to Pacific War ground forces and terrain so I can finally get around to playtesting Rommel (the Sam Mustafa game). I have everything I need to fight in the sky, on the sea and through the jungles of the Solomon Islands, I just need to do some painting.

(Unless I don't like Rommel… then I'll have to do more playtesting to find a different set of rules for division-level jungle combat. I'm sure that wouldn't take long…. <ahem> <cough> Heh.)

I shouldn't even have started the P-40Fs (they're getting desert cammo, which isn't even for the right hemisphere), but I had a really fun scenario idea and I suffered a severe lapse of logic ("Ooh! Shiny! This shouldn't take long!"), so there are a dozen little distractions sitting in the midst of the Pacific War mess.

200 timbered houses in 1:600 (3mm). The roofs worked quite well with red contrast (though the look to uniform now – need to bring in some differences with shades and highlights), but the timbering and windows drive me nuts. It takes some 15min per house, and gets kind of repetetive, even when they are all different…

I have some WW2 Chinese to finish up.
I have some pirates to finish up……..all 28mm

For a friend:
28mm pirates
28mm Teutonic Knights

a lot of terrain:
stuff for a Star Wars Legion tournament at Historicon '20
walls for a friend's 54mm FIW game for Hotlead '20
dungeon walls for my son's D+D game.

Then I'll get back to my own stuff. No idea what.

For the first time in a long time…15mm. Medievals in particular. Rebasing all of my 15mm medieval armies and adding a few command figures as I go. It had been 6-7 years since I painted a 15mm figure before last month. I'm enjoying it.

Viking Age figures from Baccus 6mm
48 Gothic Foot to proxy for Strathclyde Welsh Pedytes
96 Anglo Saxon Fyrd
48 Moorish foot to proxy for Welsh LMI
32 Viking Axemen

For my Sassanids (also Baccus 6mm)

30 horse archers.

That's the primed stuff. There is more unprimed waiting the right conditions for spraying. If things get desperate I will have to brush prime.
