… Hind-D gunship in the dead of night. "When you want something done in the name of American interest and you don't mind if someone gets their hands dirty, you call the operatives of the CIA. If you want to get in and out by air without any issue, you call the men and women of the U.S. Army's elite 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment which is better known as the "Night Stalkers." Sometimes, the moon and stars align in such a way that you can have the best of both- and shenanigans are almost always guaranteed. Interesting. Thanks for sharing, Armand. I'd never heard about how we got one of those. Apparently, we have several Hinds. My hats off to the specialist men and women who do this kind of covert stuff. "He (and/or she) who dares wins"! |

Besides the significance of the operation itself, I was impressed by the difference between the Army Special Ops and the Navy's. "The mission, while historical and worthy of notoriety, was not highly publicized, though that doesn't bother the 160th SOAR one bit: after all, the best work is done in the dark." The Navy SEALS have done some fantastic things, but their publicity seeking does not seem as professional in their line of work as the Nightstalkers' and Delta's low profile. Having said that, I think it is good for a country's patriotism to be aware of some of these activities and just how effective their heroes can be. Also, we get the benefit of info for wargame scenarios. :) Tom |

! Yes, the US ARMY 160th SOAR " The Nightstalkers" have some of the best air crews in the world. They also are the only ARMY unit that uses some V-22 Ospreys, AFAIK. They took the SEAL to UBL's compound and back. They don't get the headlines … all the time. But they are there doing the job … |

Nice to see 160 getting some credit. They also had little birds and 60s on the raid carrying the Rangers and SFOD. |
