Taking people's suggestions to heart I gave it another go…. link |

Beautiful – and this is the smallest ship they do. Well beyond anything I could even dream of doing – I think that I will give Black Seas a miss as there is no way that I could do the models justice. |

Hm, that's a lot of fiddly work. Let me ask, though… did you follow the directions? Because a lot of those lines are… well, in very random places:). Not sure if you have the game, but if not, here are the directions online… link |

Lord Ashram, The instructions from Warlord are for standing rigging only and are at variance with the rigging plans that I found online describing the rig carried by brigs in the period 1790-1820. The above picture is WIP and some of the standing rigging hasn't been painted black yet. Running rigging was left un-tarred and in its natural hemp color so I'm leaving the buff color of the sprue. |

The downloadable instructions only describe the running rigging. This reinforces the masts and bowsprite against the force of the sails. The download also includes the shape of the sails for each ship. Does the game include instructions for the running rigging? This is the rigging that controls the sails. |

I think that I will give Black Seas a miss as there is no way that I could do the models justice. Could be worse, you could be rigging this inside a bottle. But I get your point. I bought the Master and Commander box set. That comes with 9 ships. That will probably be my rigging induced insanity limit. |

Bowman, I just looked up "Brig Rigging" on google then clicked on "images" as far as running rigging goes the best that I dared to try was the sheet lines at the corners of the sails and the lines controlling the yardarms |

Ya, that actually is how they would be rigged. However, I have just received my box set and notice that the sails are not designed to be fully furled. The plastic spars still show sail wrapped around them, and I guess Warlord just expects the builder to glue the bottom of the paper sail to the spar and then just tie in the standing rigging. I also just noticed my entry from Oct 23 makes no sense as the first mention of "running rigging" should have been "standing rigging". Sorry for the total confusion that probably caused. So I will probably chicken out and just attempt the standing rigging and glue my sails to the sail spars or just leave them dangling? Hmmm….. Anton, at least your ships look like they will be under full sail. |
