"CHINA'S COMMUNIST LEADERSHIP is directing the People's Liberation Army to "be ready for war."

In a series of speeches delivered late last year, President Xi Jinping called upon his country's military to continue with its program of force modernization, while stepping up training and increasing overall preparedness.

Although insiders believe this tough talk may be nothing more than a wake up call to the army brass who have allowed corruption to fester within the nation's military, the sabre rattling has set off alarms bells throughout the region…"

And Mao Zedong also claimed that they could raise a 200M man army "with our backs to the wall".

Everybody in China between the ages of 15-45 could be issued an AK/SKS, Ammo & some grenades. Just like the "good old days" fighting the IJFs and among themselves !

And if a war came down to a land invasion of the Mainland, I would expect that mass-issue to happen.

Yes, the PRC Forces lack the ability of Force Projection like the USA, save for a small number of units.

Generally if the majority of PRC ground forces can walk or ride to any nearby border, than that may be a concern …

Fighting a war on the Chinese Mainland which has about 20% of the planet's population could prove to be very difficult. This isn't pre- WWII. The PRC is not a poorly armed force as back then.

From what I've read the US and China are having the same recruiting problem, too large of a percentage of obese and low IQ recruits.

That is probably world wide with NATO as well. E.g. IIRC both the UK and Germany are having problems too. Getting recruits and those of "quality", per se.

Another factor in the USA is with a good economy many find jobs in the civilian sector. But I also know the US has a lot of stupid fat kids who don't want to do much of anything based on my current experiences. old fart And let's not forget the USA's "Snowflake Factor" snowflake

When I've visited the Marine Recruiting office they've said one of the biggest problems is getting low scores on the tests. Our local Jr College has 25% of the Freshman taking remedial reading and math courses because they are not prepared for college-level work.

The Marines have pooles wait up to 6 months before leaving for Boot Camp and every week they do PT to get ready. When I went to Boot Camp they put the overweight guys in "Fat Boys" line at the chow line, no potatoes or dessert.

I'm embarrassed to say but I was a member of the "Fat Boys" chow line in 1st Phase, I lost 30 pounds in boot camp but I seem to have found it again.

Snowflake factor – it's real:

thumbs up

Some of the former officers in the Military Officers Association, I'm a member of. Work with one of the local JR. ROTCs. Most of those cadets would like to join the Military when they get out of high school. But they can't even get a high enough score on the basic test to just get into the military.
