Wow! That is one tough scenario for the Germans! I love reading them. Thanks John |

I was hanging in every move right down to the bitter end, and nine nil was pretty hard to swallow. This time your support worked beyond expectation but still the French seemed to benefit from not having to move much so could concentrate on firing and finishing off units and leaders to wreck the German morale. With such a head start in deploying I wonder if concentrating on fire rather than movement might've helped? Certainly, as you say, not finishing off the LMG team was a mistake. Anyway it's do or die in the next game and it all currently depends on a decimated and demoralised platoon under a desperate leader. In these circumstances, and after all those losses, it seems you'll have dug deep into your final reserve? I just can't wait for the next game. |

We played this opening scenario last night at the club and had a very different result. The Germans selected a Pre-Game barrage which obviously caused chaos in the French as no troops were able to get onto the table in the first 4 French phases! In the meantime the Germans, who had a Jump off Point on the rail line ran two sections up to the mid point of the side of the village. The Germans then over ran one French Jump Off Point and moving into a house were able to cover a second. The French arrived and put up a stalwart defence in the middle of the village but the writing was already on the wall. French morale crumbled and they withdrew with 12 dead to German losses of 6. Funnily enough I also took a Shaby Nazi Trick – 5th Columnist – but despite not wanting to move through the barrage, when the French did arrive they weren't fooled at all and shot him on sight! Terrible arrival dice for the French but "thems the breaks!". On to the culverts next! |
