BOGUS! No mention of Danger UXB? (Foyle's War and Home Fires are at least on the list and some of the others are good, but many I've never heard of). A rather "Poor" survey article! |

No Secret Army? This seems to be a list of upper class English drama that happen to be set during the war, the original Colditz series is far superior to the other offering that is on the list. |

The problem is as always, the reviewers are too young to remember half the decent stuff that was on TV decades ago. |

I'd have to agree with GildasFacit, the list is predominantly made up of more modern stuff. In my experience to date this tends to be more like period-costume soap-opera, i.e. lacking in depth/gravitas. The best stuff is usually of an older vintage: Pathfinders, Mussolini* (with George C Scott), Secret Army, etc. I can see why comedies like Dad's Army and 'Allo, 'Allo don't make the list. Perhaps they should do? I guess the same goes for something like the superb Selling Hitler, because it's not actually set in WWII. This last is amongst the strangest and most interesting WWII-related British TV dramas I've ever seen! * Yes, this was as much a British as it was a US production! |
