I recently completed a project for the Franco-Prussian War using Heroics and Ros figures. For the flags I scanned some images from the L'Armee de Napoleon III book and downloaded the ones from the Warflag website.

I used the Paintshop Pro graphics program to reduce them to the size needed for the figures. This program allows you to keep the detail of the flags by increasing the resolution (dots per inch/mm) For example, when reducing a 25mm tall flag to 5mm the resolution is multiplied by the reciprocal of the amount reduced. In this case a one-fifth reduction in size would have the resolution multiplied by five. So for a resolution of 72 dots per inch the smaller image would have a resolution of 360 dots per inch.

below are pictures of the entire word document with the 5mm tall flags and closeups of the printed flags.

Great looking! Which printer did you use?

Epson Nx430 I used the best photo setting under preferences even though it was on plain white paper. Also used your paints for the figures.

Hi William, if you are concerned with accuracy for this period Warflags is not a great place to start. The shape of the cross on the Prussian flags is wrong, and all the Saxon, Wurttemburg, Baden and Hessian flags are completely inaccurate. Only the French come close to accuracy.
