From Flower to Sapling?

Can a plastic flower become a wargaming shrub? Or maybe a small tree?

Do you have an Ugly Brush as part of your brush collection?

An Ugly Brush is an old brush long past its prime, good for applying glue, removing dust, and duties too hazardous for a 'good' brush.

Yes, until they no longer can be of any use.

I have several

Most of my brushes end up that way!

I have two jam jars full. I go through, perhaps, four brushes a week. One has small brushes in it 0 – 00000, which I use as one use disposable glue and silly things brushes (maybe x30 at present), and one with larger brushes I use for basing and terrain making (maybe 20 brushes in it).

My 'proper' painting brushes are kept in a pot 'brush holder' thing I picked up in a charity shop several years ago. There are currently 11 good used brushes and 12 brand new unused brushes in it.

Wait, you mean that they are not supposed to look like that? Well, that may explain some of my paint jobs.

Ironsides26 Sep 2019 12:47 p.m. PST

yes, several

A giant jar full of them

Timbo W26 Sep 2019 1:08 p.m. PST

Yup an ancient plastic handled thing with bristles like a startled hedgehog, use it mostly when applying glue and paint for basing

Wackmole926 Sep 2019 1:12 p.m. PST

Too many, I have a special box.

nickinsomerset26 Sep 2019 1:19 p.m. PST

Have loads of them!

Lots

Two. A flat and a filbert. Mainly for broad area coverage of paint with texture (dirt, litter, glitter, etc.) mixed in.

Whenever I ruin a new one, one of the older ones become terrain bits. Ruined fans and rounds go straight to the beam bin. So, in a sense, I keep all my old destroyed brushes.

Based on the look of many of my figures that I painted all of my brushes must be pretty ugly. Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder, unfortunately my figures often look like they were attacked by a Beholder. I need to work on my painting techniques. Yes, I have a lot of ugly brushes for dry brushing to gluing, basing, etc.

Yes and when the brush is gone, I use the stick for stirring.

Yes, have saved all from the last 30 years. They are suppose to make good pine trees. I will try and make some
one day soon.

von Schwartz26 Sep 2019 5:19 p.m. PST

ALL, I keep the one or two good ones locked up to keep them away from the grandkids who seem to have taken up painting as late.

Dukewilliam26 Sep 2019 5:48 p.m. PST

Not only do I keep old brushes for various other uses, I thank them when I finally throw them away. Same with empty paint pots that I have wrangled the last drop from.

Several of carious sizes for dry brushing.

For me a useless brush is one with no bristles, and then I use the handle to stir paint.

Chuckaroobob26 Sep 2019 10:53 p.m. PST

A few.

Dagwood27 Sep 2019 3:28 a.m. PST

Is a carious brush one with a hole in it because it's gone rotten ?

Joes Shop Supporting Member of TMP27 Sep 2019 5:27 a.m. PST

Yes, several – all repurposed.

Thomas O27 Sep 2019 6:40 a.m. PST

Yes, have a jar on the work table and the really ugly ones are in a drawer. I normally keep a brush until it is just a handle and even then I may keep the handle, cause you never know when it could come in handy for something.

General Kirchner27 Sep 2019 9:02 a.m. PST

yes, many, for years, until their is nothing left, and then i use the stick to stir paint or mix.

NOLA Chris27 Sep 2019 12:13 p.m. PST
