My weekly tome for The Wargamer, covering all three platforms – computer, cardboard (mostly GMT) and pewter (Holy Mother of Zeus, there are a lot of folks that do this stuff). I've been pretty uncharitable to the TW series in the past, but the lead image from their trailer used in the piece? I mean, like, DAMN! link Colonel Bill wargamer.com |

Currently doing War of Troy figures in 60mm plastic for Triumph! Looking forward to checking out the Total War version. |

I'll admit I'm puzzled. Some of this sounds like chariot era warfare. None of it sounds like Homer. And if you're not doing the Iliad, why bother? |

There is also a vaguely Trojan War slot machine I've seen in casinos not far from here. "Vaguely" because the main picture intended to lure suck, er, people in shows the horse being drawn forth from the city, presumably to do battle with the Greeks. Grelber |

Bob, Wargamer.com and StrategyGamer.com are both owned and run by Network N. The former covers more serious, historically accurate conflict games, while the latter covers more mainstream Hollywood History fare, such as the Total War series. When SG dropped the article on the announcement of the new, forthcoming TW Troy computer game, the Editor asked me to do an article for WG on what wargamers (vs strategy gamers) could use if they wanted to recreate the Trojan Wars (and chariot warfare in general) as it likely happened historically. Do the Illiad – Strategy Gamer, do the probable historical thing – Wargamer. Make more sense now? There is likely a market for both. Colonel Bill wargamer.com |
