In the complicated landscape of 40K, who do Scrunts ally with, who are their enemies?

In your opinion, of course. grin

Frederick Supporting Member of TMP25 Sep 2019 5:08 p.m. PST

Well, since you asked

Reluctant allies of the Imperium (not so reluctant if the Imperial official in question has a sack full of gold)

Interested in allying with the Tau (that tech ain't gonna invent itself)

Cautious and never friendly with the Eldar – after you shake hands, count your fingers

Mortal foes of the Dark Eldar, Chaos, Orks and Necrons

Covert Walrus25 Sep 2019 6:20 p.m. PST

"MA BELLY!!!" – A passing Tyranid :D

Seriously, though, I'd second Frederick's ideas.

So not even money would make them serve Chaos? Hmmmm. OK… grin

The temptation to say "The glove box in my Rhino", was just too great to resist

mrwigglesworth26 Sep 2019 8:59 a.m. PST

They left GW and went over to Mantic.

Insomniac26 Sep 2019 1:52 p.m. PST

Scrunts? They don't fit in because they aren't in the WH40k universe…

… Squats fit in as either mercenaries or allies to the Astra Militarum.

The tyranind thing is rubbish. It was just a throw away comment to shut Squat fans up…

There were chaos Squats too.

Thankyou for telling me what scrunts are. Now I understand.

+1 Mrwigglesworth. If you don't use it you lose it.

Please explain the Tyranid quote???

Weren't Scrunts done by Bob Olley and then sold off? The faux-Squats. :)

"Please explain the Tyranid quote???"

The Company Line was that the Squat empire was devoured by a Tyranid Hive Fleet, and oops! all gone! (Ratlings and Ogyrns disappeared about the same time, too…)

Not in my Epic 40K-verse ! Squats, Ogryns & 'nids are still there !!!! Plus other non-GW races, factions, etc., etc. !!!!! It's a big Galaxy and even Bigger Universe …

The H Man29 Sep 2019 6:42 p.m. PST

Sooo….

Where are the short, fat, Tyranids???

Insomniac30 Sep 2019 4:44 a.m. PST

The tyranid quote was an off the cuff remark, made by a GW employee/designer, to get the fans off his back… Nothing more.

This has been posted all over the place and if it WAS the case, how can a single Tyranid invasion engulf the entire known universe?… Because Squats were deployed with the Imperial Guard, all over the place and there would have been countless survivors.

Squats were originally their own army, with formed units and mercenary bands. They were then stolen by the Imperial Guard and then disappeared after second edition. They disappeared because of lack of enthusiasm, drive and a decent design direction.

The only Squats around at the moment, are a couple of special characters in Necromunda that will hopefully make their way over to kill team and 40k at some point (but I doubt it).

Your Kidding03 Oct 2019 5:23 p.m. PST

Squats were a great idea. Space dwarf bikers on motorcycles. Problem was you really couldn't pitch enough weapons and material to make them different from the Guard. And, their background fluff was in direct conflict with the "God-Emperor". They were fun but couldn't make it in future additions. Think of a genestealer hybrid army without the 'nid influence.
