I'm mildly surprised that such a thing is street legal. Still, it's kinda cute :)

Driver training vehicle
tank-masters.de/?page_id=4964

Though I'm a little surprised to see it on what appears to be a public road. I wouldn't have thought driving 'in traffic' would be a normal part of training!

rmaker25 Sep 2019 10:55 a.m. PST

Probably has pretty low ground pressure. And it looks like there's good view from the cab.

@ROU:
Military vehicles frequently have to train to drive in traffic. Not only are LARCs, Bushmasters and the occasional ASLAV doing so around my way, in the 1990s M113-based vehicles were frequently tearing up the streets.
In the UK, cavalry and other units eqipped with CVR(T)s have to be able to navigate around in a city.

Many US Law Enforcement Agencies/Departments have been given MRAPs from the US Military for LEO SWAT operations. Our local LEOs got one. I saw it being escorted to their Dept. by a cop car. The MRAP was still in desert tan. The next time I saw it was in the standard Flat Black of SWAT.

Recently at the local county fair the County Sheriff Dept. had an MRAP on display painted in a light Olive Drab. Close up it was a BIG Mutha' !!!!! huh?

I hope the US Military kept some for themselves. As the MRAP is a better vehicle for the type of work the military is doing in the GWoT, etc. Much better than a Hummer I'd think !

It seems a bit pointless to design an armoured vehicle then stick a vulnerable glass-walled cabin on top of it.

I wouldn't want to be the occupant – even it's bullet-proof glass.

with 20mm cannon…? That I'd don't see. Driver Training vehicle looks spot-on to me.

Yeah, most of the surplussed MRAPs are the monster 20+ton beasts.

The US is replacing most of their big MRAPs and the Humvees with the new Joint Light Tactical Vehicle, they're ~14,000lbs instead of 30-40klbs but have the same blast resistance.
