You were asked – TMP link

Looking for your favorite film that features aircraft (not spacecraft or balloons).

And in the final round:

32% said "Battle of Britain"
18% said "Blue Max"
15% said "Tora, Tora, Tora"

Except for Blue Max all WW II. No love for Top Gun? Bridges at Toko Ri? Others?

Top Gun? Why would a homo-erotic volleyball film have anything to do with aviation.

what about the Tuskegee Airmen?

anything with real planes, not CGI nonsense.

Only last night Mrs F and I sat and watched Pearl Harbour (Harbor) from beginning to end. I roared with laughter as she got increasingly cross at me. Spitfires with four blades and cannon in 1940, P40Es and nothing else at PH, guys drowning in an inverted Oklahoma, although above the waterline, Doolittle Raid that did more damage to Tokyo than any A Bomb could have.

But the point of this rant? There are some aerial sequences, even in PH, with real planes. Why the makers of films feel we cannot watch anything at less than F15 speed I will never understand. This new Midway looks awful

Dunkirk did one to one combat brilliantly, but it did not quite make sense. But it was so gripping. Like Saving PR in the air…made no sense, but incredible…..not like Battle of Britain for the massed dogfights.

My favourite is Hell's Angels, the silent movie that does the worst version of "I'm Forever Blowing Bubbles" I have ever heard
