"We have seen the first trailer for this one earlier this summer and it was a rather glorious spectacle of special effects and mindblowing action, and now we have not only a new trailer for MIDWAY World War II extravaganza, but also tons of characters posters depicting all the heroes of the movie. The super stellar cast of the war drama includes Patrick Wilson, Woody Harrelson, Nick Jonas, Ed Skrein, Luke Evans, Aaron Eckhart, Tadanobu Asano, Luke Kleintank, Darren Criss, Keean Johnson, Alexander Ludwig, Mandy Moore and Dennis Quaid! The movie will land into cinemas at the beginning of November ahead of the awards season." YouTube link Amicalement Armand

Looks like fairly standard OTT CGI Hollywood fare. When are they ever going to make it look real as opposed to a computer game… One doesn't dare to think what they've done to the story. |

Looks like they're trying to put 50 pounds of stuff in a 3 pound bag. |

The CGI stuff is just too over the top and looks so fake. I wish Hollywood would stay away from CGI and move back to use models or mockups – it just looks more natural and realistic. |

Everything looks like Star Wars. |

Some bit's look great, but the low flying in the street and at the end when a bomb hits a carrier … not so much. The dialog they chose to show is fairly cheesy, maybe it's real but it doesn't feel that way. Did 'Washington' ever dissagree that Midway was the target? I thought that was established with some clever codebreaking and trickery about a water delivery. |

Its a film, hot a historical record. Judging it before seeing the finished article is not valid criticism. |

Looks like the planes are fighting at sword ranges. And the bombs are in the 50 kiloton range. |

The issue isn't the CGI so much, but the action movie aesthetics they've chosen to go with. Damon. |

Frankly, World of Warships gameplay looks more realistic. Sadly, Hollywood always goes for over the top instead of great. |

Will pass on this, I think. I'd like to see a good film about Midway, but more along the lines of Tora, Tora, Tora, where both sides' situations are depicted fairly neutrally. |

2015: "Why won't they make any naval movies?" 2019: "Ugh!!! The trailer does not look like newsreel footage! The buttons are not right on that guy's coat! The 1.1" should be power operated and the Mk 4588 gunsight is wrong. Look…the ammo mix is wrong on the guns in that Dauntless. " Great Scott!!! Can it be???…. It looks like *gasp* they are trying to market this to the general public!!!" Sorry all. I will be first in line. And see it several times and buy it afterwards. Dave |

ptdockyard, try the movie Dauntless. They tried to work with the CGI to use it as a tool rather than an end in itself. It looks to be the anti-Midway. It is about a few days in the life of a few men with only glimpses of the bigger battle around them. |
