Every day on TMP we see what seems like 100 new posts from Tango01, in which Armand helpfully provides us with links to all manner of wargaming-related or military history-related blogs and website, with a laconic "Of possible interest", sometimes after the blogger in question or some other TMPer has already posted to TMP about the same thing the day before.

Since I started my BBBBlog five years ago I have posted 159 times on a variety of wargaming-related and military history-related topics:
bloodybigbattles.blogspot.com

I have also posted 779 images of wargames, miniatures, battlefields, museums, maps etc in dozens of albums on Flickr, mostly lovingly captioned and explained:
link

As far as I am aware, not one of these blog posts or albums has ever been Tangoed.

Why is this, Armand? Should I conclude that nothing I've done is 'of possible interest'? ;-)

(Or is it just that you think I do a good enough job of spreading the word on my own?)

Yours sadly and neglectedly,
Chris

Sorry for you.. :-)

Doesn't it take two to tango?

I've been Tangoed a few times and the first was frankly a thrill.

Aethelflaeda was framed14 Sep 2019 7:35 a.m. PST

I wouldn't worry about it. Frankly, most of what he posts i find to be redundant, boring, or annoying and I ignore 99% of it.

I like Tango,…..no, not every post is useful but many of them are.

Done that a while ago.

Much of what he posts is interesting. But he seems to also be absolutely tone deaf about avoiding things that can only lead to divisive arguing on non-wargaming topics/issues.

Which leads me to wonder: Is he really tone deaf, or does he get a kick out of posting such things?

randy5114 Sep 2019 11:11 a.m. PST

Isn't Tango Argentinian? English is his second language I believe.

Tango is the soul of TMP.

Jcfrog14 Sep 2019 11:49 a.m. PST

Does not he put stuff that was not suppsedly already in tmp?😏Most of the time
You put your own, no need then?
Funny it will become a status symbol. "Have we been tangoed".

Tango0114 Sep 2019 12:30 p.m. PST

Dear Chris… there are not any explanation to be tangoed… pure chance…

Thanks for your support my good friend Mike!

What took my attention here was the words of Mr. Aethelflaeda was framed…. If you take note in your list of the last 100 threads you participated… leaving aside 8 that are from Bill … over the rest … 39 were "Tango threads" … that is … almost half of the times you have made a comment in a thread … it was in one of mine!…

Tango is AOK in my book-- I don't have nearly enough time to sift through all the info on the web. He provides a valuable resource even though many of the posts are of no interest to me; others are informative, useful, or amusing.

I've never been Tangoed as far as I know. I don't know why.

I like Tango's posts because they steer me towards articles and topics that I never would have found on the internet.

I'm with Der Alte Fritz, can't believe he hasn't been Tangoed though.

Basha Felika15 Sep 2019 10:04 a.m. PST

I've always appreciated Tango's efforts – he's drawn my attention to interesting or new stuff I'd otherwise miss, and I can easily ignore the ‘chaff' that's not of interest.

Trouble is, the new rules are going to severely restrict the invaluable service he offers in highlighting new releases unless the manufacturers in question are ‘on the approved list'. :-(

Brian Smaller15 Sep 2019 1:24 p.m. PST

I am not sure as I was away for a few years but I have never been Tangoed either. I wondered, did I do something to offend Armand.

Thanks my friends!. (smile)

There are a short list of old good fellows here that I visit their pages… regularly …. but do not pick up their job…. because of some kind of "respect" of "Old Guards" like myself… (smile)

Aethelflaeda was framed … happy I took your attention so much… I must consider myself very lucky … because except for Bill's threads … there is no other fellow member that attracts your attention in writing in all the various TMP Forums like we both… (smile).

Devil Dice…I'm afraid that the Front Page Message Boards earlier than expected … will disappear … at least as we knew it before … Bill's new laws … according to my calculations … made emigrate at least 40% of the usual thread writers/visitors … it is easy to check this figure … look at the number of visits in each new thread … before the new laws it was normal for a mediocre thread to get about 180 to 250 visits. .. a good thread easily passed the amount of 500 to 700 visits … a very good thread … well … thousands of visits … currently … that amount decreased to…
80 to 120/150 to 210/600 to 1200 ….

Take today as an example …. Sundays are usually quite strong when it comes to new threads and visits … at this local time I am writing … there are only 12 threads … you can qualify easily the importance or attractiveness that they achieved … but it is certainly a very poor Sunday compared to just 2 weeks ago …

I still do not understand the advantage of the new rules … I would very much like to contact one of Bill's hundreds of clients to explain to me as soon as they have improved their business in TMP since the beginning of this commercial determination … until now only I've seen three or four of them complain openly in "Talk" …

I also don't understand why being a "paid member"here … with the restrictions to comment on any existing news that is not on the list of VIP customers (whose payroll list is completely ignored) … and still … it seems that it cannot be done either (?) …

Finally … I am sure there are no TMP customers who publish dice … furniture … boxes … books (there are countless variables about them) … tools for the hobbie … NSFW figures .. .. Flags and banners … Flats figures … Boardgames (amount like books) … painting service … etc etc etc … and the hundreds of new miniatures from countries like Japan- Germany – Russia – Latin America – China – etc etc etc that I am sure that they have no idea what TMP is and that they would never invest a single penny in publishing here …therefore … we are condemned to know absolutely nothing about them … the truth … how much is the percentage of all kinds of news related to our hobbies in the list of TMP paying customers in THE WORLD ?. ..

Perhaps … these measures are to reduce the work of the TMP Staff? … may be … but let me say that … as an old CEO of big Companies … a premise that MUST NEVER BE FORGET IN ANy BUSINESS … is CARING FOR CUSTOMERS … DO NOT COST THE TRUTH … DO NOT TAKE MEASURES THAT DESTROY THEM WITHOUT FIRST MAKING A DEEP MARKETING STUDY … DO NOT HIDE THEM INFORMATION … otherwise … it is a clear case of "shooting yourself in the foot" …

I still have hopes that Bill reconsiders … he said that this is a test to see how it turns out … clearly … for us … the visitors / friends / followers / parteners / clients here … that is…. the real Soul of TMP … this is bad … very bad … and the consequences are clear to be seen from day one ….

As usual … sorry for my poor English … it is not even my second language and I have not taken the time to choose and review my text … when I do it is usually a little more acceptable … but I've written this on a run … it's Sunday and there is a life outside of this place …

Not sure about the rest, but I don't think, in the 11 or 12 years I've been doing my blog, that I've ever been Tangoed.

I ignore him. It's just too much.

ChrisBBB2 Supporting Member of TMP16 Sep 2019 4:43 a.m. PST

Thank you Armand and all for your replies. Fair to say that up to now, reposting my stuff on TMP would have been a bit redundant; I was just feeling left out.

However, with the new rules, apparently my usual AARs etc are now deemed advertising and therefore banned. Bill just removed my most recent one.

Fair enough – Bill's house, Bill's rules – but perhaps from now on, Armand, TMP might be relying on you to decide if anything I do is of possible interest!

To anyone I may have offended, bored or annoyed with my posts over the years, my apologies; I hope you are outnumbered by those I have amused, informed, or otherwise enhanced their hobby experience.

Happy gaming,
Chris

I was worried that I've never been Tango'd so I'm quite relieved to find that it's not just me. I have over 400 blog posts but I usually publish my own blog, so I guess that there is no need for Tango to do it for me.
As a relative newcomer to the TMP pages, I was surprised at just how much material Tango was able to find and publish but I suspect he has a bit more time than I do.
As to the quality of the posts – some are excellent and have lead me to material that I would never have found. Some items are not so much interest to me. My scroll button takes care of the latter.
Tango is like the regular down the pub, he might occupy the best seat by the fire but it's always a comfort to see him and say hello and we know that we'll miss him when he's not there. grin

I've been Tangoed several times here – either for stuff related to my Minairons brand, or for my own painting and collecting work in my personal blog.

I don't know if this should make me be proud, or worried instead laugh

Please somebody Tango Chris Pringle! We need those BBB AARs … which are NOT advertising, simply AARs. This is a hobby area is it not?
