Do you ever think about painting a figure so much, that you forget whether you actually got around to painting it? I've been doing some housecleaning after one of my storage closets got wet (have to find a better roofer!), and it has been a chance to see some figures that I haven't thought about in ages! So I'm looking at this 28mm chimp with a blowpipe, and I'm thinking: "Did I paint you 40 years ago? Or were you a gift from a friend? Weren't there a lot more of you? Did I ever paint up the whole unit, or did I just think about it and never got around to it?" I look at the color of the pouch, and I remember that bottle of paint, it was my 'go to' leather color back then, so I think I did indeed paint this fellow. And I remember painting blowpipes, so surely I painted the others too? Where could they be? This is what getting old in the hobby is like. LOL |

Price of being in the hobby so long. Always a great surprise when I find something that was long forgotten. My own story involves a set of rules I wrote for the ACW. I dug them out after converting from plastic (sold) to metal (purchased from proceeds). As I was running the game, I came across an issue and I thought "I really should have a rule for that". Looking for a good place to put the rule and, sure enough, there it was. |

I was just organizing a bunch of minis to get ready for a convention and I can't find one member of a three man mortar team. So at some point in the future I'm going to either find him where he completely doesn't belong or find him unpainted and wonder why I didn't paint him 15 years ago… |

For me it is the rules. I have played so much WW2 I can not keep them straight. |

I repainted a lot of my early figs from the seventies. My skills have improved somewhat and the paint was getting pretty beat up from handling. I can safely say I know all of my paint jobs and haven't forgotten any, but I do still have a few figs from the seventies that remain bare of paint. In my head I have Jen Haley painting my figures for me. And keeping track of them too. link |

Having moved a few years ago, I have discovered unpainted several units I was "sure" I had painted. And I was right – I also found the painted versions. Evidently, I acquired the figures more than once. |
