….Vision of Victory.

"In a chilling editorial published May 29th, the authoritative Chinese newspaper People's Daily used a significant phrase after demanding the U.S. respect China's economic interests: "don't say I didn't warn you."[1] The People's Daily has issued this warning before, such as in 1962 before China went to war with India, and in 1979 before China went to war with Vietnam. To the informed reader, there could be no mistake about it: China was signaling that it had no intentions of giving in on trade.

Chinese official pronouncements, with their interminable sloganeering, are mind-numbing to read. However, they are essential to our understanding of international relations. Few people have read them more closely than the historian and strategist Jonathan D.T. Ward. In his new book, China's Vision of Victory, Ward combines Chinese work reports, propaganda editorials, nationalist films, and everyday conversations to present a uniquely comprehensive snapshot of China's worldview and plans. This important book belongs on the shelf of every student of China…"

They plan to take over the world, and bring a communist "utopia" to its people. Pretty plain and simple.

They're willing to do anything to achieve that goal, including lying, stealing, and using military force and economic/military coercion against everyone.

If we were smart, we stop trading with them completely, due to their: technology theft, brazen moves and lies in the South China Sea, Tiananmen Square (yes, I know its 30 years late, but better late than never, and they seem poised to create another one of these in Hong Kong, shortly), cheating in the WTO, and overt hacking of our computers, electrical grid, etc., etc..

They claim to be a "developing nation" under the WTO, in order to reap certain advantages, but they're the 2nd largest economic power on the planet. By their measure, the USA, which has the largest economy, is still a "developing nation" as well.

Better to cut them off now, before they gain even more power.

China is claiming 'developing nation' status based on GDP-per-capita.

China's 2017 GDP was 12.24Trillion USD. But China's 2017 GDP-per-capita was $8,827. USD

Having a population of 1.386billion people makes for a pretty big economy, even when each person only gets $9 USDk.

The US has less than 1/4 the population and 50% greater GDP.
