"SHANGHAI FORTRESS science fiction disaster movie in which the Chinese are saving the planet from the alien invaders who have parked their nasty alien mothership right above China's biggest city! Directed by Hua Tao Teng, this action packed extravaganza has already played in Chinese cinemas earlier this month and it has earned about $20 USD million (it cost close to $60 USD million) around the world. Although a very expensive big budgeted affair, the movie crashed at the Chinese box office failing to break any records. Unlike most of the Western directors who would probably attack the audience for the lack of success of their film, Hua Tao Teng actually publicly apologized to the audience for ruining their hopes in sf films with this one. Qi Shu, pop star Han Lu (I hear he is really bad in the film), Godfrey Gao and Vincent Matile are just some of the names that appear in the cast."

oof, looks like CGI overkill to me. Lots of moving parts and too many details on the screen to follow it all. I probably would have loved it twenty years ago.

Might be worth seeing if nothing better is showing.

I thought that it look visually stunning. It's too bad that the pop star may have made it unwatchable. I'll be that the director was likely saddled with him.

Edit: Dang, 10 reviews nets a 2.5 rating out of 10 on IMDB. Yikes!
