"Chinese military analysts have questioned whether the United States will be able to realise its plans to build more military bases in Asia.

Beijing has already reacted angrily to plans to base intermediate-range missiles in the region, saying it "will not stand idly by" if the US does so.

Some might, though seeing how they're treating those from Tibet, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, I suspect many others would be hard pressed to do that, and if they do, they will definitely regret it. One need look no further than how they've treated the Vietnamese, and those from South Korea too, along with Christians and Muslims.

Their lying about moves in the South China Sea, land/sea grabs, and belligerent attitude, actions, and proclamations should serve notice to others as well.

If they do choose China, they'll live to regret it in short order.

I like how the Chinese think: sure, let the US build a base in your country. We'll just buy up all your exporting businesses and then threaten to shut them down.

Economic warfare – they have been pretty successful at that

The Chinese are ruthless, clever, & able to ignore short term pain, unlike elected governments. I don't see how we will stop them. Our only hope is a domestic revolt.
