…. Years Before Star Wars?

"This week, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens in Walt Disney World, bringing an unprecedented theme park experience to the citizens of Orlando, Florida. Eat the food and drink of a galaxy far, far away! Hop aboard an iconic Star Wars ship! Live in a fantastical world, populated by people in character, an immersive experience! It's unlike anything we've seen before.

Except when Star Trek did it 20 years ago.

Yes, Batuu may be the "it" planet right now, but two decades before we frothed over Bespin Fizzes, and gawked at being able to board the Millennium Falcon, Star Trek: The Experience basically did what Disney has now poured millions of dollars into doing across its theme parks with Star Wars. Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland has been suffering from poor visitation. So much so that now, only months after opening, they plan to lay off staff. So I can't see the Florida version faring much better.

Apparently Disney is also under investigation for supposedly "cooking the books" with how much their parks have been making.

It will be interesting to see how the Florida experience differs from the Californian one.

I will trade both "experiences" for a good Jetan set.

I went to Galaxy's Edge last month and rode the Millennium Falcon ride which was pretty awesome. The park attendance did seem pretty sparse especially in the morning but got crowded enough later in the day. I also got to eat at Club 33 as well which was a bucket list item for me.
