"Hezbollah is preparing a "calculated strike" against its enemy Israel after drones crashed in Beirut but it seeks to avoid a new war, two sources allied to the heavily armed Shi'ite Muslim movement told Reuters on Tuesday. A reaction "is being arranged in a way which wouldn't lead to a war" that Hezbollah does not want, one of the sources said. "The direction now is for a calculated strike, but how matters develop, that's another thing."…" Main page link Amicalement Armand

They plan to deploy the 237th harsh language brigade? |

Yea, good luck with that, especially after tipping them off. |

Reuters reports this like Hezbollah has any legal right to make a 'calculated strike' or anything else. It's a terrorist organization and reporting like this only lends them credibility they don't have. |

I agree. They should be treated like ISIS. |

The US, EU, UK, Paraguay, everyone except the UN, considers them a terrorist organization. From that light, we're talking about a calculated terrorist attack. Which, one might darkly suppose, is better than a non-calculated terrorist attack, but that's just black humor. If Hezbollah wants to strike back at Israel without triggering a war they don't want, then "tipping them off" is probably a key element of the attack. You are telling Israel, and more importantly everyone else, how you hope they will interpret the attack. Israel is pretty good at handling escalations, so Hezbollah doesn't want an escalation. Israel is less constrained by international opinion than a lot of countries, but is still somewhat constrained. So making it clear to the international community that you are only asserting your sovereignty, not "looking for trouble", could be an essential part of achieving that. On the other hand, telling people directly how you want them to interpret your violence is a little amateurish. Normally you'd have proxy drop hints. But Hezbollah only has one friend in the world and they're not really in a good position to drop helpful hints to Israel. |

Agree… but there are other countries which did not consider them as terrorist… like Venezuela, Germany, Cuba, Switzerland. Aleria, China, Iraq, North Korea, Russia, Syria. Amicalement Armand

The axis of evil is over represented on that list. That, in itself, tells you something. |

I guess not Germany nor Switzerland… (smile) Amicalement Armand

I did say "over represented" after all. The Swiss will bank for anyone (sometimes they make it a little hard to get the money back). As for Germany, from the old song: "Once all the Germans were warlike and mean But that couldn't happen again We taught them a lesson in 1918 And they've hardly bothered us since then". Double smile my old friend. Vince |
