Just bought myself of pot of Humbrol paint and I note it's in a new pot (again) but one similar to the old games workshop citadel paints and coat d'arms paint. I'm assuming these are being made by the same company which once used to make paints for GW. So if you can be bothered to go on a paint comparison chart you can get good old goblin green at just £2.00 GBP and 18.2 ml of the stuff. instead of a measly 12ml in a pot which dries the paint up. Of course these paints are available in your local model shop. How good is that?

Mind you I dare say some of you will prefer the new over complicated system they seem to now have for painting their figures.

What kind of Paints?

Still enamel based, right? requiring spirits or turpentine, so a deal killer for me….

The new pots are for the acrylics. They've been moving over to the new pots for the last year or so

(And yes, Humbrol acrylics are made in the same Manchester factory that makes CdA amongst others)

Good news, blank frank--or at least it will be when the local store carries them. But be fair to the Evil Empire: stain painting wasn't complicated when Seifried invented it, and it isn't complicated now that GW has filed off the serial number.

GW stain painting is a convenience. Ready made with very smooth primers to paint over. Granted the price point is a tad high but since they have trouble keeping the full line on the shelves it seems to be well received.

I have not noticed the new Humbrol acrylics yet at any of my local shops across the pond. What differentiates them from the CdA paint line if they are using a similar lineup to the old GW paints?

Cheers for the info.

GW follow the marketing approach of taking a good product (80-90s paints) and over complicating it into many more things to buy and upsell that you don't need (2000s paints).

The new pots are slowly hitting the shelves.

Humbrol acrylics are the same colour palette as they have always been. Nothing to do with the old Citadel colours (that's Cd'A), just made in the same factory that the old Citadel range was made at.

Well I guess the paints are made to Humbrols mostly model colours their own paint comparison chart would seem to show an overlap of some 31 colours. For example Blood red is 174 and vomit brown is 61. Some key colours here.

I will have to look for them later this year. Never can have too many paints…
