Hi folks, Maybe you can help with this one: Does anyone know a brand/scale to look for when trying to find toy cars for 60s ( ish ) Spy skirmish gaming/RPG ? I can seem to find earlier period cars for interwar pulp, but the later period is eluding me. Usually I just use die cast toys, so I'd like to go with that for this too. Thanks! |

So what scale do you use for 28mm? 1/64 seems too small and 1/43 seems to large. And I don't see any between 1/48 and 1/56. |

Diecast Direct has autos in 1/55 (mostly from the Cars movies) and 1/50. |

I check the diecast car rack at all the Michael's stores I pass and sometimes find a suitable 60's era vehicle (or 50's for the scenery). |

I will echo what saltflats said. Check the racks at craft stores and cvs or similar. They are generally around 1/43 scale. |

Hello Komerade If you're doing 1960s-70s games based in the US, I've found 1/43 has more choices, and works fairly well for the larger 28mm/32mm miniatures – especially those with plastic slotta bases. link For UK or European cars, I would look for Corgi or Dinky. Regards, Keith F. |

If you look at where the roofline of the car is relative the the infantry minis, 1/43 works very well with 28mm on plastic bases (nominally 1/56 scale). That 3mm thick plastic slotted base effectively makes that model 168mm (over 6.5"!) taller. |

I see what you mean about more available 1/43. I would have thought that overlarge, but the thick base should even things out a bit. Thanks all for your tips. |
