Piquet Cartouche (the SYW set) or Field of Battle by Piquet. The card-driven mechanic makes solo play easy because it provides a certain amount of fog-of-war to the flow of initiative and unit activations, allowing you to set up a strategy for each side and then simply follow it as the cards let you. Inherently better than any IGOUGO system.

I've got KK vol. 1 and vol. 2, I think. Hard to tell for sure since they did not number the volumes, the oldest one dates from 1982 from Mikes Models, the newer one has a date of 1996 and is from Freikorps and Outland Games. Never heard of those mentioned by Yogi. Are they readily available here in the US?

The Piquet series sounds interesting, marketing is typical $5 USD for the basic rules but $35 USD and up for the add-ons you require to use the base set.

Set the hook and reel them in!

Regardless, I may be interested in testing them at some time. I was surprised to hear that KK was considered a first choice by the first two to respond. I assume that you have used them in this capacity, i.e. solo gaming, any tips or modifications you recommend?
