To my eye it appears they have modeled a Fallschirmjaeger with a Lewis LMG (large barrel shroud, tight-and-tall drum magazine on top). Have I mis-identified the gun? Is there an LMG used by these troops that would look similar . Or is this the right gun? Can anyone enlighten me on German use of the Lewis gun? -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

That's not all, one is armed with a Lee Enfield SMLE.These are probably just prototypes and will carry the correct weapons when they are in production. |

I think these are meant to represent German Paras with captured weapons. Maybe they didn't make it to a weapon container and armed themselves with what they could find. May'40 have some with MG34's and Kar98k's. |

I've talked with Sander from May '40 Miniatures. He confirms that those figures have captured weapons (as per photos from the time). Lewis and 2 x Hembrug M95 rifles. 'Something bigger will be in the Kickstarter too', Sander added enigmatically! |

I've talked with Sander from May '40 Miniatures. He confirms that those figures have captured weapons (as per photos from the time). Lewis and 2 x Hembrug M95 rifles. Late to the party, but this indicates that the weapons are captured Dutch ones. The standard Dutch LMG of 1940 was derived from the Lewis gun. The Hembrugs are Dutch. An interesting thing to model, but if you are a stickler for these things it would limit the usefulness of the German figures with those weapons. |
