Interesting shows about this on Netflix and Amazon Prime. Besides the main battle, there are possible/hypothetical/Bollywood skirmishes as well.

What would be the best figs for this, any scale? I do not think I have ever seen the turbans with the golden circle piece modeled on.

If there is not a suitable or specific range…
Would there be interest in a range specifically for this period/battle?

Wargames Illustrated had an article about this battle (Feb 2018), and featured Havildar Ishar Singh as their 'Giant in Miniature' for that month. For the record, he doesn't seem to have that ring around his turban, either.

There are several options for late 19th Century Sikhs and Afghans in several scales. My collection (28mm) includes Old Glory, Perry, Artizan and Castaway Arts. There are other companies as well (Foundry for example) and multiple options in other scales such as 15mm. I suspect that a NWF range dedicated to this particular conflict would be lost in the great selection that we already have.

Thanks, willthepiper.

No worries, I watched about 1/3 of the Saragarhi series on Netflix for painting inspiration. Taking a break now, but I might eventually watch some more of the show…

(it takes a long time for very little to happen in that show!)

The movie Kesari is better and in just a couple of hours, on Amazon Prime. I made it through the series but skipped the middle ten or so episodes. Yes, very drawn out.

Do you find, Will, that all those brands you use are about the same size and work well together and next to other brands on the table?

The Netflix series is pretty good. Yes it is drawn out over 65 episodes but most of those episodes are ~20 minutes long. Somewhat fictionalized for production purposes but based on historical battle (with historical outcome). Worth a watch… perfect length for getting in a few miles on the stationary bike!!!

Thanks, FRG, I'll look out for a copy of Kesari.

As for mix and match, well, it depends! I'm quite happy to put them all on the same table. Afghans/Pathan tribesmen on foot can easily mix, even in the same unit, as they don't need to be uniform in appearance. Pathan horse is more of a problem, but that's because Old Glory horses are quite, um, "distinct" – so look a bit out of place beside Perry horses. Here's a photo of all my Pathan horse, including Perry, OG and Castaway Arts – you can see if you agree:

For the Indian Army, I like to have one complete unit all from the same manufacturer. Artizan are noticeably more hefty, while Castaway Arts can be a bit slight. So having all from the same sculptor gives them more uniformity.
