You were asked – TMP link While the majority of the games released in the 40K verse take place in and around 40,000, several somewhat successful expansions have been made into 30,000 (Space Marine, Epic, Titanicus/Adeptus Titanicus, and the Hours Heresy, etc.). If GW decides to expand outside of the 30k/40k limits, where/when would you like to see them go next? 9% said "40k but the Emperor returns" 7% (tie) said "The Age of Strife (M25-30)" OR "40k but the Emperor dies and the Empire falls" |

Narrow difference between them, though. |

The very short answer: the Emperor, though essentially ageless, was mortally wounded by his favored son (who rebelled along with half the Imperium) and was placed in life support where he has remained for over 10,000 years. |

Or he died, and the machinery of the time keep his corpse 'alive' enough to provide a beacon used to travel FTL. Or perhaps it is the psionic talent fed into the machine that keeps the emperor alive that actually keeps the beacon going. Either way, the beacon is the key as without it, the universe of humanity would fall into chaos and be unable to use FTL technology. |
