The book T55 vs Centurion has an interesting Sketch the Centurion Firing ramps, showing a ramp on which the tank drives so that it takes advantage of the Centurions 10 degree depression of the main gun hiding much of the vehicle from fire and providing an alternate firing position. Basically a bulldozed ramp and caged rocks as the protection. Anybody have any photos of this?

Thanks in advance

So I found the book again Its an Osprey Duel, Centurian vs T55, sketch on page 70. It is fundamantaly diffrent to the one picture shown. I always have my doubts about Osprey as a reliable source. Especially as there is no photo to support the diagram.

It is possible that the Israelis used different ramps in different areas. I, too, doubt the diagram in the Osprey book has any credibility!

That picture looks like a pretty standard hull down position, though it may have been enhanced with a bit of recreational bulldozing. That could also be a whole lot of driving up and down.

Yes, that is what I though. Each of our Tank Plts had a dozer blade on one of it's tanks. So they could easily dig in/go hull down.
