Our staff has been in overdrive with the forums lately, and there are some things we want to remind you of:

1. Please do not stalk other TMP members. Do not follow them from topic to topic so you can harass them. Do not flood us with complaints about their posts (but nobody else's).

2. There are many boards on our forums, dedicated to many subjects. Do not harass members when they are simply discussing what is allowed on that board. For example, don't go to the Flames of War board just to tell people how much you dislike that ruleset. We can and will take away access to certain boards if you are harassing other members.

3. TMP is a business, and the people who work here enjoy their jobs (and their paychecks). Therefore, we will remove posts and/or block people who hate TMP and predict our imminent demise. Use common sense, people!

4. Similarly, do not accuse us of unethical behavior. It makes us grouchy and accounts get locked. Nobody here is engaged in any conspiracy to do anything, and nobody here cares how many 'clicks' some forum topic gets.

5. Similarly, please do not accuse us of being Nazis. (Yes, I know, this should be obvious, but it came up today on the forum and somebody got their account locked.)

6. We also expect all staff members to be treated with respect on the forum we operate. No, we don't have to earn your respect first. We deserve your respect because this is our forum. You can disagree with us, but do not make it personal. If you are telling one of us that we're "sad" or should be "ashamed" just because you have a disagreement over some website policy, then you need to reconsider your language. If a staff editor has contacted you about your forum behavior, treat that person with respect when you reply to them.

Mostly just the "golden rule" we were taught as children – to treat others as you would like to be treated.

And the Wheaton Rule also applies…

Oh puh-leeze. This post is proof positive of a conspiracy to enforce the forum rules. Pitchforks! Torches! Boiling lead!

Bill as I have said before it is a lot better now than a few years back. You purged many trolls, etc., back then. Many went elsewhere to be immature, vitriolic, etc.

But sadly some good guys got caught up in that. "Wheat with the Chaff" so to speak …

Sigwald15 Aug 2019 8:57 a.m. PST

I agree with Colonel Scott.

An online gamer guild that I am a member of has a tight simple rules set governing player conduct that can be applied to many settings:

1. Do what you want and have fun.
2. Don't be a jerk.
3. When rule 1 and 2 conflict go with rule 2.

I like TMP and agree that it is much more relaxed than a few years ago. Fun has returned to the page in it's full glory. Frustrating to Bill, but he managed to work his way thru it all and make the Necessary corrections. Great job Bill! Thank you.
As everything in life, problems will always pop up and people will always complain, one way or the other about how you handle them. But Bill, with patience and determination, continues to handle problems as best as he can. Let's also be patient with Bill as he continues to try and add enjoyment, information, comradery, and fun to the hobby we all enjoy!

There is still work to be done in my opinion.

Herkybird!

Allow me to steal your entire post and simply put my own handle on it. (Except for the "blog" part and substitute "My Website!")

Specifically?

Von, for one thing you could learn where the quote mark key is.

I think It's time to just put you on "stifle". I don't think I'll miss anything of value.

von Schwartz17 Aug 2019 6:07 p.m. PST

Wooo Hooo!!!

I have a really pithy and witty response but I'm not all that fond of the dawghouse.

Toodles then!!!

Some people just don't appreciate my sarcastic and very witty humor. (smile)

DJCoaltrain23 Aug 2019 10:56 a.m. PST

von Schwartz – I thought it was a right proper Bleeped text response. I got a quick chuckle, because it's the kind of thing many of my friends would do.

*NJH: A good business takes good care of its customers. A good business appreciates the needs/wants/wishes of its customers and performs in a manner to meet those needs/wants/wishes. I have no complaints, yet.

*NJH: You're a business (as you say) and a business HAS to earn the respect of its target market via good business practices that address the needs/wants/wishes of its target market. Once a business earns that respect it needs to keep it otherwise the target market will migrate elsewhere. The burden is upon the business to succeed, not the customer. Jus sayin.

I don't think that's the same thing…

If I go into a store, should I disrepect the people who work there until they "earn my respect"? No, it seems to me that when you are in 'their space', they deserve a basic level of respect.

DJCoaltrain23 Aug 2019 3:05 p.m. PST

EiC Bill, now you're talking about social niceties, which should always be present in social dyads, or groups. Social manners and the simple social courtesies, have nothing to do with respect. Oft times I encounter officious jerks in business settings. And, having worked in the auto-parts industry, I also know some customers lack manners, lack gratitude, and lack any sense of decorum. Respect = "a feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements." How could I respect a stranger? I know nothing about him/her. However, I could exercise good manners and polite courtesies, as a matter of course without the need to respect said person. Respect would arise over time, if that person does a good job and is helpful solving my customer related problems. Jus sayin.

Thank you DJ, I always try to be, if nothing else, entertaining.

Afterall, I am a member of the "Sarcastic Alliance", gotta keep in practice
