For those of you living in Southern Massachusetts you may know Bill Pritchard. Maybe you have been to his house and gamed in his game room on his magnificent table using hundreds of figures from his collection of thousands. Maybe you know Bill because of his love of collectible toy soldiers such as Britains. Maybe you know Bill because of his skill as a military and fantasy modeler. If you do, you are very lucky indeed. It is with a very heavy heart that I tell you that Bill passed away yesterday the 13th at his second home in Florida after a very lengthy illness.
I first met Bill almost 30 years ago, and he was a great friend for every one of those years. Bill introduced me to historical miniature gaming. He showed me how to paint and base figures, as well as how to build terrain. He was always generous with his time and knowledge. Gaming at Bill's house was always an extravaganza, his table being sixteen feet long and six feet across held numerous battles, every one more spectacular than the one before. If you knew Bill, you are a very fortunate individual, and if you didn't, then I wish you did. he was a great friend, a great mentor, and a wonderful human being. So to Bill, all I can say is, "Godspeed my friend. I will ride to the sound of the guns where I am sure we will meet again one day."

Sorry to hear that.
I did not know Bill, but he sounds like a great wargamer and friend.

I did not have the good fortune to know him, but may God rest his soul.

I will morn my friend Bill. Bill was a member of HMGS-South and a long time friend. Bill always showed up early on thursday at the shows on the off chance we needed a hand setting up. Once, at one of the shows I was convention coordinator at, my wife and I showed up to start the set up. We were trying out a new system of using tape to lay out vendor booths instead of going by tables. Those who were going to help out had not arrived and I was a bit hair on fire. Of course Bill was there and pitched right in helping measure everything and set things up. All the time he kept my wife entertained talking about Massachusetts.

But that was Bill. He loved gaming and is one of those individuals who gave back much more that he ever got. I know Hurricon this September will seem to be missing something because it will, Bill.

Bill was always enjoyable to be with and had a wealth of knowledge about our hobby and many other things. I am saddened to learn of his passing and wish that I had a bit more time to spend with him.

Bill gamed occasionally with our Club, Old Colony Wargamers, when we were located in Brockton, MA. He was always a gracious, knowledgeable gamer. Sorry to hear of his passing. Another long time gamer has passed on. May he Rest In Peace!

I had many occasions to deal with Bill and sell him figures I painted. I remember meeting him in the Waltham Friendly's restaurant and having him purchase a large assortment of Napoleonic figures. I had brought there. My daughter was going to school at Bentley College at the time and her and my wife were in restaurant waiting for me. Needless to say my wife was happy with the sale as it went towards our daughter's college cost. I really liked Bill from the times I met him. So sorry to hear of this. He will be missed.
