I had one of those experiences where a quickie paint job turned out just perfect, had to share.

I was cleaning around the TMP office and found that a single, primed figure had somehow gotten separated from its fellows and fallen into an unrelated box. The other 20+ figures have already been to the other side of the planet and back, painted, awaiting basing.

So I took the lone figure to my workbench and started painting him. Not counting painting breaks, it feels like I spent less than 10 minutes to finish this figure! I did some highlights, I did a dark brown wash, and everything tied in perfectly.

Serendipity. grin

No picture, because I'm going to someday show off the entire set, and see if you can guess which one I painted myself…

That happened to me a while back with a horde of GW Tyranids. I'd mixed up some of my own shade using some old GW Foundation paint and some dishwasher cleaner.

When I eventually found the Gargoyle and tried to finish it, the Foundation paint was long since used up and I had a right job trying to mix up something that fitted in with the rest.

It still bugs me that I can tell the difference even if few others can.

Yet skin tones and fabrics vary in a human unit. Why be bothered?
