As some of you were aware of Typhoon Hannah in the Philippines, and have been asking about how our staff editors there are coping, here's an update: Editor Gwen's home (Mindanao) was flooded, but they are used to that. Her main problem is that water got into her phone (which she uses for work), she is drying it out and hoping it will recover. Editor Dianna (another part of Mindanao) did not suffer from the typhoon. However, there has been a terrorism incident there, so security is tight which makes it hard to travel about. Editor Ellah (Luzon) lives with her family on higher ground, so they are safe, but her city has declared an emergency and many businesses are closed. Electricity, phone and internet have been knocked out in many places. The storm is not going anywhere so the rain keeps pouring. She is hoping to be back at work soon, when internet is restored to her neighborhood. She would appreciate your prayers for her town. |

I had not heard of this. Prayers are coming their way. All the best to them. |

Thanks for the update, I do wish them all well, and very much appreciate we in the UK do not suffer the extreme weather experienced elsewhere very often. |

Thanks and best wishes to the staff. |

Hope they're all ok. I think we take safety, as such, too much for granted sometimes. |

That poor country and people take a beating from Mother Nature. Some 20 typhoons a year, 3 of the most dangerous volcanoes in the World on Luzon (Pinatubo, Taal, Mayon), and earthquakes, (in April this year I experienced my first earthquake of 6.4 while in Metro Manila). |
