Years ago Skytrex brought out 1/200 scale vehicles, which I thought were a nice improvement over 1/300 in terms of details and recognisability. I was well invested in 1/300 so I passed. What is the equivalent now? Did that scale ever catch on or has it morphed into 10mm and whatnot? |

1/200 vehicles….no…..don't know of anyone who does those…..10mm tho or….more accurately…..1/160 is quite popular. Magister militum link Pendraken pendraken.co.uk 10mm forum link Minifigs link I have WWII Brits, Germans, US, and Russians in 10mm and all of mine are Perrin Miniatures (which I used to manufacture as "True North Poductions") link well….that'll get you started! |

Pendraken are 1:150 approx; Minifigs are described on their website as "12mm", but I find them quite compatible with my 1:144 scale tanks from Arrowhead, Cando etc. 1:160 is, I think, Continental N gauge model railway scale (UK N gauge is 1:148) and is the scale Perrin are modelled at, they are significantly smaller than Pendraken, Minifigs etc. This is a useful resource: link |

Steamingdave2. Very nice site but not accutaye. What you are calling "Minifigs" are actually, Armines in Miniature (AIM), which I own. They have ACW and ECW from GFI/AIM since back when Minifigs and GFI worked together. The IP remains with my wife and me on those. Just want to make your reference accurate. Thanks. v/r Tom Dye |

Hi Tom, I was specifically referring to the Minifigs WW2 ranges, which are featured on Caliver Books " Miniature Figurines Production" site here in UK. As a buyer, I know nothing of the origins/copyright/ intellectual property rights etc. I have been buying Minifigs for 50 years, from back in the days when they were based in Southampton, England. In those days, a fledging wargamer only had a few options and 25mm Minifigs were great for my games using "Charge" rules. The website I linked to is not mine, but one I found useful when planning my purchases of WW2 models and figures to fit in with my collection, I think it is constructed and maintained by a guy called Tim Porter. Hope to see the AIM range resurrected in the future. Best regards Dave |

Butlers Printed Models will upscale their 6mm stuff…(not down scale from 15mm)…if you use the contact them feature before ordering and specify that you are after 1/200 8mm asking to be invoiced for a costing. Price midway between 6mm and 10mm…roughly comparable with Skytrex. Butlers vehicles are very slightly smaller than Skytrex, (not noticeable except in ride height), but better proportioned in many cases…especially Eastern Front Russians! Do not be put off TOO much by the pics, as they are 15mm models…in 1/200, ridges ARE there, but less noticeable, (though a highlighted paint job rather than washes would be better). Some details such as track guard bracers, (and rivets!), are missing, though tools are present! Stowage, (Heroics & Ros 1/300 does fine)…or cammo helps lots. As Butlers do a turret only option if you ask, I have re-turreted many Skytrex tanks with the hull filed/drilled out to accept the Butlers turret…especially useful for T34/76 1943/44!!! They also have a skirt/ no skirt option which can be great for Western Desert/Italy Brits. butlersprintedmodels.co.uk |
