I have some 1/2400 GHQ ships. Looking for some aircraft to use for carrier operations. But I'm not sure about the size of the 1/2400 scale planes.

What is another decent size scale for aircraft in this scale?

Thanks

1:1200 or 1:1250 work well.

I use 1/1200th aircraft with my 1/2400-3000th ships and they look fine, looking down it's just like the aircraft are closer to the observer. In fact with my 1/1200th ships I use 1/600-700th scale aircraft.

Exactly. Using a much larger scale suggests a more realistic height of the planes. I use therefore 1/600 planes with my 1/3000 ships.

I've tried 1/600 and 1/1200 planes. For me 1/1200 on 2" flight stands work best with 1/3000 or 1/24000.

Hmm. Now to find a few sites…

Any suggestions?

Magister Militum for 1/1200 from the UK.

The Last Square for the same range(s) in the USA.

Pico carries 1/600th aircraft in the USA.

1/600th minis are the same price, or far cheaper, depending upon who you buy from, and what you purchase.

1/1200th aircraft are crazy expensive relative to other scales. Very nice looking, but way overpriced, especially if you want more than just a few of each type.

Tumbling Dice in the UK also makes 1/600th aircraft. Brookhurst Hobbies in the USA used to sell them, but I don't know if they still do now, or not.

Thanks for the info gang. Appreciate it.

You could try 1/700 instead of 1/600, the difference will not really matter. Go to a seller of scale models and you will find many kits purely of aircraft meant to replace or reinforce those supplied with a kit of a carrier.
Many of the aircraft will not even remotely suit carrier deck operations so you are not limited to naval aircraft (there are sets including Lancasters!).

We use 1/700. Anything you can't get from a plastic model vendor can be 3D printed, and probably already is (though I couldn't find Be-12's for modern).
