Beneath the Lily Banners has two interrelated sets, "War of the Three Kings" for the period roughly 1680-1721 in Western Europe. and "With Talon and Claw" for the GNW and wars in Eastern Europe during the same period. You have to own the first to use the second set. For a more abstract set, you might try "Twilight of the Sun King." These are designed for 15mm and smaller figures, often 10mm and 6mm, while the BLB rules are more battalion level and would probably be more to the liking of 28mm players. I use them for 28mm and 10mm. |

Twilight of the Sunking is ideal tor the bigger battles, as units represent "brigades" of around 2000 infantry or 1000 cavalry. It can also be used for smaller battles using a " Regimental scale" where each unit represents about half the number of men in the Brigade scale. I particularly like the rules because they eliminate firing and melee calculations, thus speeding up play. Ramiliees or Blenheim become playable within a four hour club session. |
