I have a large collection of WWII 15mm figures and am wanting to get back into gaming this period. I like larger scale games with the stand representing a platoon. I've always toyed with the idea of converting Panzer Leader to miniatures, fixing a few minor problems in the rules and providing a simple C3 overlay. I have even bought some 3" hex mats to use. I've come across White Star Rising 2nd Edition. Not familiar with the game but am wondering whether it might be better to buy this game and use it as my template rather than Panzer Leader. Any thoughts. Is the ground scale approximately the same? Thanks for any help.

I am north of Toronto and interested in the same unit scale of games. I game in 6mm but willing to mix and match depending on who is hosting. Not many scale and historical minis gamers I can find. I am also willing to travel.

I"ve considered doing this myself. White Star Rising always looked to me like a PanzerBlitz/Panzer Leader reboot. It's basically the same ground scale, unit scale, and scenario scale. The one-unit-at-a-time sequence of WSR would not work as well in multi-player games as the IGO/UGO of the PanzerBlitz system, but WSR seems to solve the "panzerbush" problem.

Maybe slightly off topic, but FWIW: Last year I decided it would be a lot less work to adapt Panzer Grenadier by Avalanche Press to miniatures. It is also at the same level of command and roughly the same ground scale, but pays a lot more attention to C3. The rules and charts are free online, and the Panzer Grenadier HQ site has the stats for all the units yet released in the series.

Not played white star rising but have enjoyed the war storm series and did consider converting that.

In regards to war storm, Lock n load are due to release their new cold war game and that had some ideas to convert to me minatures. Might be worth s look.

I converted the modern version World at war to a he3" hex grid and used 2 tanks as a platoon and took one off when reduced. I had one counter of each unit on the side of the board as reference. Worked well.

"White Star Rising" is from Lock 'n Load and the most recent iteration is "Storming The Gap" (Fulda). It is their latest Kickstarter. Met stretch goals include "Miniatures play data cards" with data for 6, 15, and 28 mm.
It hasn't shipped yet so you still have time to get in. Give it a look. link link The conversion has been done. At the least this might give you an idea of scales.
